Anthony DeNaro, AKA 'YNOT', graphic artist, musician and dancer. Ynot always had a love for music. In 1996 he was introduced to 'bboyin" for the first time through a music video called 'Planet Rock' from the artist known as Afrika Bambaataa. Ynot knew of dancing genereally but had never seen dacing quite like this. The video featured old footage of the Rock Steady Crew. Inspired by what he saw, he wanted to learn more.In his quest for knowledge he ventured to NYC. YNOT would attend events and learn the dance from watching the people at the jams. He would then go home and imitate what he had seen. After about a year, YNOT eventually met members of the Rock Steady Crew. Crazy Legs was the first to talk to him and they stayed in touch as time went by. In 1998, YNOT went away to school to broaden his artisitic mind. He moved to Philadelphia where he studied motion graphics and graduated with a BA in computer science. During his time in Philly, he was surrounded by music, and consistently danced. YNOT believes that the history of b-boy culture is found in the music. Lerning the steps and moves is half of it, the rest of it is 'feeling'. In 2003, he was approached by the Rock Steady Crew to become a member of the group. Now a member, YNOT strives to keep the history and foundation of the dance alive. YNOT focuses on a part of the dance called 'toprocking'. He feels that this is an aspect that very often gets lost in the excitement of the acrobatic moves displayed in b-boyin'. YNOT has given numerous lectures/demonstrations, teaches master classes and participates in outreach programs. He is focused on spreading the knowledge of the dance much like it was taught to him. He feels he is fortunate to learn from the very people who have inspired him and everybody should have the opportunity to learn what b-boyin' is really about.
